On June 22, 23, and 24, 2026, Others Over Self® hosted its fourth annual health and wellness retreat, serving workers in Michigan who provide care and support to military service members, Veterans, and military families.

Taking Time for Gratitude Before Heading Back to the Battlefield
Be At Ease (BAE) Retreat (Warrior edition) is a transformative gathering which allows mental wellness workers to unplug and reclaim their sense of inner peace in a professionally facilitated atmosphere.
In addition to engaging in healthy habits, this year’s attendees also received training on the 4 Types of Capital – including the human success elements of managing relationships and creating value. The interactive sessions prioritize team engagement, provide individualized growth solutions, and encourage the pursuit of both hobby and passion.
Pictured in this article are many of the fourth year retreat attendees. While most have personally served in the military, all workers who serve military people in a professional capacity are eligible to attend the BAE Retreat (Warrior edition).

Walking with Warriors – the Team Making a Difference
The 2026 BAE Retreat featured representatives from Walking with Warriors. The Michigan Department of Health and Human Services, through the Community Mental Health Association of Michigan, provided partial funding for this initiative through a Federal Community Mental Health Block Grant and a Substance Abuse Prevention and Treatment Block Grant.
Walking with Warriors was created to assist veterans and military families of ALL eras and discharge types. They work to connect veterans and their families to federal, state and local resources to ease issues regarding mental health, substance abuse, housing and other common issues that impact veterans in order to support healthier lifestyles and provide support.
